Juniors Section

Juniors are always welcome at Hadden Hill and the discounted membership we offer reflects this. We also hope the opening of the par 3 course will further attract both boys and girls to become involved in the sport.

Welcome

We hope you will enjoy your golf here whether playing, practising or receiving coaching from our PGA Professional. Golf is a great game and we encourage juniors to play this great game. We hope you will find Hadden Hill a Junior Friendly club and aim to have in place everything you will need to get the most out of your golf. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any queries.

We were awarded the Junior GolfMark accreditation in September 2005, and work with the Golf Foundation (The Golf Foundation is a charity committed to the sporting and social development of young people through golf) promoting golf in local schools introduding basic golf skills using the Junior Golf Passport system 'A fantastic resource to encourage young golfers' Nick Faldo.

The Team

We are very lucky to be able to put out a Junior team currently, and be part of the Oxfordshire Junior Golf League. It's a fantastic opportunity for our junior section to meet and play at other Clubs and generate some real competition. Our Junior Organiser Gary Coupar and PGA Professional Tom Hartley are always keen to welcome new faces to the squad.

Clubs

You will need your own set of at least 6 clubs and have a basic understanding and some experience of playing golf. We normally recommend all beginers take few golf lessons/coaching sessions with our Professional before going out on the course. This will enable you to enjoy the game more right from the start.

Which Tees?

All visitors normally play from the yellow tees (Boys) and Red tees (Girls).

However, depending on your age and experience you may prefer to play from the Red tees (Boys) or the start of the fairway if you prefer to play a shortened course (recommended for younger players or those new to the game).

When On The Golf Course

Please ensure you obey all the course notices, which are there to protect sensitive areas of the golf course and help everyone to enjoy their games.
Please Note: Juniors Playing On The Course At Weekends. Juniors under the age of 14 may be requested to play after 12.00 O'clock on busy weekends unless: They have a handicap of 18 or under, are accompanied by an adult or have received a proficiency certificate from our professionals.

Dress Code

We ask for a basic standard of dress from all golfers. This means Jeans and T-shirts with no collar are not permitted. You may wear tracksuits and trainers although you will need waterproof golf shoes during the winter months and at other times when it is wet underfoot to avoid slipping. We strongly recommend all juniors have waterproof clothing and an umbrella for rainy days.

Handicaps

All juniors joining the club are encouraged to obtain their first handicap as soon as possible. This will allow entry into a variety of fun and more serious competitions at Hadden Hill and other clubs. To obtain your first handicap (up to 54) you must mark three cards, marked and signed by either a club member or another person with a handicap. If you have an existing handicap from another club please supply the Secretary's Office with a copy of your certificate. If you have any query with your handicap please speak to the Junior Organiser or The Secretary. Juniors with a handicap of 28 or less may enter any of the Men's Competitions or Mixed Club Competitions.

Bad Weather

As a junior golfer we advise that you do not play in bad weather such as in a thunderstorm or in foggy conditions. If you find yourself out on the course in bad weather such as a thunderstorm you must walk back to the Clubhouse or Pro Shop immediately.

Using The Clubhouse

You may use the clubhouse at anytime during opening hours. They have a variety of snacks, drinks and meals available to buy. We also have a drinks machine in the pro shop. Please have a change of shoes so you do not wear muddy golf shoes in the clubhouse. We have a few lockers available for members to rent in the changing rooms.
